Biopathology/Microbiology

In our microbiological laboratory, we conduct all haematological, biochemical, microbiological, and immunological tests.

Personalized check-ups can be performed based on specific health issues such as thyroid diseases, diabetes, obesity, dietary intolerance and allergies, neoplasms, chronic fatigue syndrome, vitamin deficiencies etc., as well as preventive check-ups tailored to age, gender, family history, dietary habits, and lifestyle. There is also home blood collection available by appointment, especially for individuals with mobility and other serious health issues.

Results are provided by the pathologist between 18:00-20:00 pm with necessary explanation and initial instructions, if needed. Results can also be sent via email to you and your physician.

The daily operating hours are from 20:00 am to 14:00 pm and from 17:00 pm to 21:00 pm, except weekends. Blood collections are conducted throughout the operating hours.

Preperation

For proper preparation for a standard morning blood test (check-up), which includes measurements such as glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, etc., the following is recommended:

The day before:

  • Do not remain fasting all day, you should have eaten 10–12 hours before the blood draw
  • Avoid consuming fatty foods, especially those of animal origin (full-fat cheese, yogurt, fatty meats, etc.)
  • Keep portions within normal individual limits

On the day of the test:

  • Avoid breakfast, water consumption is allowed
  • Coffee is permitted if taken without sugar
  • Smoking before a morning blood test should be avoided, as nicotine increases catecholamines and may affect cortisol and other hormones. Additionally, it may cause a temporary increase in blood glucose, slight changes in triglycerides and free fatty acids, and vasoconstriction, which may make blood sampling more difficult. In a complete blood count, a temporary increase in white blood cells and hemoglobin may also be observed.
  • Patients taking medication should take their treatment as usual after the blood draw, unless otherwise instructed by their physician or if drug level measurements are required.

An exception applies to patients taking thyroid medication, which should not be taken before the blood test if thyroid function tests are being performed.
